Plasa 2009 – Coordination of horizontal and vertical motion

Visual act’s stand at Plasa this year will demonstrate coordination of upper and lower stage machinery.  Specifically – a Visual act Advanced Wagon will move on an inclined plane.  The wagon will be supported by a 2- dimensional flying system.  Motion will depend on perfect synchronization between the two systems.

You can find us in Earls Court 2, Stand#2-P22, were we will present the Visual act Stage Wagon System supported by Visual act 3D System.

From the Eurovision Song Contest to Industrial robots

Visual act engineers have recently completed the mechanical refurbishment and installation of a new control system for an industrial robot that moves, tests and packs fire extinguishers. The customer was impressed with both quality of motion of ease of reprogramming with the new system, qualities that come directly from Visual acts Stage Control System. Noise and vibration are reduced even as the capacity of the system was increased. Small adjustments to positions that may be required due to changes in packaging or the addition of a new product type can now be handled by the end user.

5th Eurovision Song Contest for Visual act

Visual act are very proud to announce that we will be providing Stage automation for The Eurovision Song Contest 2009 that will be held in Moscow in May. Visual act will be providing 64 Axes of stage motion in what promises to be one of the most impressive Eurovision Song Contests ever. Last year the competition was won by Russia with Dima Bilan singing “Believe” and Russia have very high hopes for a fantastic show at the Olimpski Stadium in central Moscow. Visual act is one of the main contributors to the show and are responsible for project management, stage construction, rigging, mechanical sculptures, LED arrays etc.

The workshop is in full swing at the Visual act headquarters with the construction of five new stage wagons, 30 Visual act Winches and much more. At the end of March the first of many trucks rolled from Stockholm to Moscow filled with equipment for the show and many of the Visual act team will be flying to Moscow for mechanical assembly, rigging, cable dragging and so much more. We have a lot to do within a very short space of time, but we hope that within the chaos of Eurovision we manage to find some time over in Moscow to visit the beautiful city and enjoy a cold glass of Siberian Crown.

Stefan Przetak, who is ThinLights engineer, is sharing his experience in text and pictures below from both Nacka, Sweden and Moscow, Russia… >>

The successful My Fair Lady with two Visual act Advanced Wagons in leading rolls is still going strong and has been extended to also run autumn 2009.

After use in successful productions throughout Stockholm and Norway some of our wagons have finally come home again. They could be seen at Stockholm’s Circus with Magnus Uggla, Johan Ulveson and Johan Rehnborg and even managed to get in on the act at the Swedish Idol 2009 final in the Globe arena. All wagons are available for demonstration and hire on short notice.

To New Heights 2009

Screen shoot of Visual act 3D system

The Visual act 3D System is used to great effect in Hollywood and on location worldwide for stunts involving actors, stuntmen or the camera itself. The system can cover huge expanses and fly at speeds exceeding the comfort zone of most stuntmen.

At the moment Visual act and Dagsljus AB are working together on integrating Dagsljus AB gyro controlled remote camera head to complement the 3d rig with a view to offer a flexible and cost effective solution for hire.

Installation at Oslo New Theater

Visual act Winches

We started 2009 with the quick and effective installation of four newly designed Visual act winches on the fly floor at the Oslo New Theatre. The winches are a complement to an existing Visual act winch system and part of ongoing modernization of the winch system in the charming theatre.

Thanks to intensive testing of the winches, the installation was completed in two days with minimal disruption to activities at the theatre.
