Visual act installs unique lifts for for rotating scen at Spoonface Steinberg

"Spoonface Steinberg" at the Jewish Theatre in Stockholm, Sweden

Visual act has installed a unique set of four lifts for the new production of Lee Hall’s “Spoonface Steinberg” at the Jewish Theatre in Stockholm.

The four lifts are set on a rotating stage which is placed three meters under the stage floor. The lifts can be moved from one meter below the stage surface to one meter above while the revolve is moving.

Visual act´s battery based servo amplifiers are used to allow all of the equipment to be installed on the revolve. No slip rings or special cable arrangements are required. The operator desk communicates with the system over a radio link.

The lifts are all lit from within. All the visible surfaces are translucent. The framework is designed to reduce shadows such that the lifts appear as boxes of colored light.

Continuous movement of the Visual act elements helps to create a fluid and living set which is totally integrated with the stage performance. Henric Tiselius in Stockholm City has called the design “…a bold and elegant work of art”.

“Spoonface” is directed by Pia Forsgren who has worked together with Tomas Franck to create the stage design. The lighting is by Kenneth Björk.

Visual act supplies scenic movement to the Eurovision Song Contest in Riga, Latvia

Visual act’s reputation for dependability and flexibility were important as Visual act was again selected to supply scenic movement to the Eurovision Song Contest.

Two cycloramas measuring 45 by 16 meters were raised to expose the greenroom. Special mechanics were required as the truss carrying the cycloramas was curved in two planes. The Visual act Flying System, which was placed on the floor for easy access, was also used to lift the rings that moved behind the stage during most of the show.
