Swan Lake in Dark Street version

.

On Friday December 2, a modern version of “Swan Lake” opened at Dansens Hus in Stockholm. The performance is created by the Swedish famous dancer and choreographer Fredrik “Benke” Rydman. The classical ballet has turned into a modern dance performance where the swans are drug using prostitutes and the evil Rothbart is their pimp. The show mixes street dance, locking with classical ballet. The music is also a mix of the classical music with new modern music specially composed for this performance. The sceneries shifts from dark city streets, the glowing Red Light district, to the interior of a 18th century manor. The scenography was created by Lehna Edwall and Fredrik Rydman, built by Visual act and painted by the graffitti artist Daniel “Puppet” Blomqvist.

Visual act has not only built the scenery, but also provided stage technology to enable the fluid movements of the scenery in sync with the dancers. The walls and pillars in the city scene move on tracks and are controlled by Visual act Stage Control system. In the Red Light district the curtains in the windows also move as an integral part of the dance.

Magic carpet flies in Warsaw

.

On Saturday, November 26, the musical “Aladdin” had it’s premiere at ROMA Music Theatre in Warsaw. The musical is based on Disney’s version with music by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, which was awarded two Oscar statuettes. The result is a fantastic show for the entire family.

An integral part of the story is the flying carpet. Without disclosing any surprises, Visual act is proud to say that both our wagon technology and our 3D Fly technology are used in combination with some new innovative solutions unique for this show.

The Theatre and Culture Center “Spira” opens in Jönköping, Sweden!

On November 11, the opening of the new theatre and culture center, ”Kulturhuset Spira” in Jönköping, Sweden was held as planned.

Flybar winches and cabinets in the machine room

During 2011 Visual act has provided the overstage machinery, the stage technology and the acoustic ceiling for the new theatre.

The 15000 sqm building contains 4 stages for an audience of totally 1700. The “Theater Hall” and the “Concert Hall” are the largest stages. The “Café Stage” and the “Multi Stage” are more flexible stages that can be used for larger and minor events.

The delivery included:
The complete overstage machinery installation: including lifting mechanics, 3 lighting trusses and  1 lighting bridge, 35 fly bars (300kg at 1,5 m/s), proscenium bridge, speaker hoists etc. Visual act Stage Control System is used to control the overstage machinery.

The delivery further included the acoustic reflectors to the concert hall, a 9m wide bottom rolled projection screen (designed by Visual act), curtains, trusses, masking, dance floor, storage wagons for dance floor, point hoists and Visual act Control System for point hoists.

Visual act is proud to have been part of the creation of this great Theatre and Culture center. We are confident that the people of Jönköping (and others) can look forward to many years of fantastic theatrical and musical performances.

Visual act wagons take part in celebration of Taiwan 100-year anniversary.

On October 10, Taiwan celebrated it’s 100th anniversary. A big televised show was held, produced by Shi-Chi Entertainment Co Ltd.

During the show two Visual act Analog+ wagons were used to move screens and decorations over the stage. The wagons high load-carrying capacity in combination with it’s free moving capabilities made it a perfect solution for the job.

Visual act 3D provides flexible path based motion for flying performers, cameras or scenic elements.

Any number of flying objects can be easily configured, each object using from one to eight winches.  Rigging points and winches can be placed where practical.  The system needs only the coordinates of the rigging points.  Vector (wire) or track based geometries are supported.

Once the geometry for an object is known, paths can be drawn on the control system screen or created from manually operated motions.  The shape, acceleration, velocity, and deceleration of the flight path can be changed in seconds.

Together with our partners we can provide complete solutions for:

  • Acrobatics and performer flying
  • Stunts for films
  • Rigging for events
  • Flown scenery
  • Camera flying for TV and film, including gyro heads from Opertech, Libra and others

Visual act 3D System – General info:
Programming in Visual act 3D is easy. By using Bezier curves and click-and-drag drawing techniques, complex 3D-paths can be created in minutes. Teach-in allows the operator to move an object freely with the joysticks, using the resulting path as the basis of a new movement.

Visual act 3D is an add-on software module for Visual act’s Stage Control System. The Visual act Stage Control System is truly scalable and can operate anything from a single chain hoist to large numbers of high speed fly bars to large stage elevators.
